Initial EMT Basic         Exciting News!!!

Jan-Care GEMS is please to announce the creation of EMT Basic Online in West Virginia. 
Class began March 30, 2015 and is progressing nicely.  Face to face labs will be conducted throughout the course.  We look forward to a good outcome.
Future EMT Classes will be announced as soon as results from the Pilot are in.
 
Recertification EMT Basic
All currently certified EMT Basic's in WV need to complete the following for recertification:
1.  Submit a complete application to WVOEMS:  www.wvoems.org
2.  Complete 24 Hours of Recertification Training in the following topics:
  • Preparatory 1
  • Airway 3
  • Patient Assessment 4
  • Pharmacology 1
  • Medical 4
  • Trauma 4
  • Obstetrics/Pediatrics 2
  • Geriatric 4
  • Documentation 1

3.  Take a state written and practical exam.
4.  Complete additional 14 Hours of mandated classes: HazMat Awareness annually 8, BLS Protocol Review  4, WV MCI I & II 2, CPR 4
5 Complete  6 hours of continues training of choice.  Can be acquired through in squad training, EMS Conferences, rescue, law enforcement courses related to EMS, approved online courses, and BLS Alphabet Classes.  College classes in health care fields count as well.

  • May 6-7 2015 Wyoming County 9-5
  • May 20-21, 2015 Fayette County 9-5
  • June 9-10. 2015  Kanawha County 6 p.m.- Midnight
  • June 23-24, 2015 Kanawha County 6 p.m. - Midnight
  • September 9,10,16,17 Monongalia County 6 p.m. - Midnight
