Richard L. Cornett, II, the president and owner of Jan Care has a core philosophy that has been told to employees as far back as can be remembered:

  • Respect and take care of your equipment; It is used to save lives
  • Know how to do your job, keep your training updated; people depend on you
  • And most important of all, "Always put patient care first, above money, above the company, above your own pride, if you put patient care first you will never have a problem with me or this company"
Jan Care's job is patient care -- Every decision is based on that fact.

Rick Cornett, President & CEO

alt Rick Cornett began Jan-Care in 1970. He started the company with one ambulance while his wife, Juanita, dispatched from their home. Rick has always taken the risks necessary to see that Jan-Care thrived. He has worked hard to provide quality care to the patients that we serve. He also believes in giving back to the community where we sponsor free blood pressure clinics, cholesterol screenings, and cover numerous football and basketball games. He has also been very active with the legislation on passing bills that uphold the high standard of pre hospital care. Rick lives in Beckley with his wife Juanita. He has three grown sons and four grandchildren that also live in the area.

J. Todd Cornett, Vice President

Joseph "Todd" Cornett, son of Rick Cornett, started working with his father at age fifteen. He has worked in all aspects of the ambulance business from transporting patients to leading the upper management team. Todd has always kept the theme of "patient care is our top priority" close to heart. He believes that this basis has made Jan-Care what it is today. He has seen Jan-Care grow from covering four connecting counties to being the largest ambulance provider in the state. Todd is the Vice President of the West Virginia Ambulance Administrators Association. He is also a voting delegate for Mountain State EMS and sits on the legislative committee for the West Virginia EMS Coalition. Todd lives in Beckley with his wife and two sons.


Paul Seamann, RN, NREMT-P, MSMHCA Director of Operations

alt As Director of Operations, Paul is involved in every aspect of Jan-Care. Paul serves on numerous EMS committees and is continuously involved with the direction and training of Jan-Care's employees. Currently, Paul is the president of Mountain State EMS. In addition to being a national registry paramedic for over 20 years, he has served as an ICU and ER nurse. Paul also earned his master's degree in healthcare administration, graduating with high honors. Paul brings a keen analytical perspective, as well as tremendous educational and practical knowledge, to Jan-Care. For Mr. Seamann's Curriculum Vitae, click here.


 

Rachel Cornett, Director of A/R and Communications

alt Rachel Cornett, wife of Todd Cornett, has worked for Jan-Care for nearly 25 years. She is a member of the executive management team and is the Director of Accounts Receivable and Communications. Rachel started her career at Jan-Care at the age of 15 doing office filing and helping to file claims to UMWA. She worked in billing for several years and worked with all insurances. She then started an in-house collection group and headed that for two years. Following this, she along with 3 others formed the first Medical Support initiative in the state, which prescreened all non-emergency calls for medical necessity and decided on the appropriate level of transportation. She later became the Communications Director. After two years as Communications Director, she took over the billing department as Director of Accounts Receivable. She played an instrumental role in the administration, training and implementation of Electronic Patient Care Reporting. She also serves as chairperson on the Workplace Wellness Team.

Darlene Davis, CAC, Director of Compliance

alt Darlene Davis, performing as Director of Compliance, leads the company’s efforts to comply with Federal and State mandates and to identify and adopt the best practices for monitoring and adherence to these standards. Since her first employment here in 1996, Darlene was functioning as a crew member in Raleigh and Fayette Counties after her EMT certification. With the growth of Jan-Care, she moved, “goal-driven”, into the Corporate Office where she gained experience in Operations, Human Resources and Training eventually progressing on into Billing to become a Supervisor. With the inception of new technology, Darlene shared lead on software administration which remains a portion of her role at present. As Director of Compliance, Darlene remains passionate about Jan-Care’s responsibilities to itself and to the community. She holds a deep-seated belief that Jan-Care’s calling is upright, benevolent and admirable with a positive effect on our community. Darlene is very much involved with her children and granddaughter. Darlene resides in Beckley WV.
